About the notebook

THE NOTEBOOK'S AUTHORS

A small, independent team that writes up the strangest corners of the living world the way field biologists write up a day's observations: carefully, in order, and with the sources close at hand.

What this notebook is

Nebulabophangoucre is an informative website about strange nature, rare creatures and unusual ecosystems. It is organised as a field notebook: creatures first, then habitats, then plants, then the ethics of watching them.

Every entry starts with one astonishing fact that a reader can verify, then explains the ecology behind it. Our aim is that wonder turns into understanding, and that readers leave able to spot the difference between a measured finding and a story that has been retold too many times.

NOTE 03

Who writes it

  • Field writers

Contributors with backgrounds in ecology fieldwork, diving and cave surveying, who draft entries from published research and their own observation habits.

  • Fact checkers

Every figure is traced to a primary source: a peer-reviewed paper, an IUCN Red List assessment, a museum or a park authority. Changing numbers carry a year.

  • Readers

Many entries began as reader questions. When a question becomes an entry, we credit the reader if they agree.

Independence and corrections

The notebook is independent. We are not affiliated with any museum, park authority, conservation body or tour operator, and we do not accept payment for coverage. Mentions of organisations are for reference only.

Science moves. If you find an error or a newer figure, please tell us. Corrections are made promptly and noted on the page when they change a fact.
