Emails you send us. If you email us, we receive your email address, name if given and the content of your message. We use this only to reply, to consider your note for an entry and to credit you if you agree.

The Note 09 tool. The contact tool runs entirely in your browser. Text you type is not transmitted to us or stored on our servers. It only leaves your device if you copy it into an email or send the downloaded file yourself.

Server logs. Our hosting provider records standard technical data such as IP address, browser type and the pages requested, for security and to keep the site running. These logs are retained for a limited period, normally no longer than 30 days.

We process correspondence on the basis of our legitimate interest in responding to readers, and server logs on the basis of our legitimate interest in securing the website. We keep correspondence for up to two years, unless you ask us to delete it sooner.

We do not sell personal data, and we do not use it for advertising profiles.

Under UK data protection law you may request access to, correction of or deletion of your personal data, object to or restrict its processing, and request a copy in a portable format. Write to us at the address above. You may also complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ico.org.uk).
